Montanaire
Just 15 minutes from Yverdon-les-Bains, Montanaire is a Swiss municipality in the canton of Vaud, located in the district of Gros-de-Vaud. It was created on January 1, 2013, following the merger of nine municipalities.
The town of Thierrens is home to the administrative headquarters of the municipality.
In the referendums of January 29, 2012, the municipalities of Chanéaz, Chapelle-sur-Moudon, Correvon , Denezy, Martherenges, Neyruz-sur-Moudon, Peyres-Possens, Saint-Cierges, and Thierrens approved their merger to form a new municipality, which came into being on January 1, 2013. Its name comes from a place name located between Saint-Cierges and Thierrens, meaning "small mountain" or "hill." As of May 1, 2021, it had a population of 2,777.
